I think it’s only fitting that the first wedding I share on my blog is my very favorite of all time! The beautiful bride just happens to be my sweet mom. I may be slightly biased, but I think she may be the most beautiful bride I’ve ever seen! The best part about her though is what’s on the inside. She is the most loving, giving, strong person I know. The past few years have been hard for our family so it was wonderful to have something to celebrate!
My mom met Wayne while she was supposed to be out dancing with another guy. She caught his eye from across the room and he came over and asked her to dance. Needless to say, it didn’t work out with her original date. Wayne has been part of our family ever since. Thanks to him, we all know a lot more about golfing than we did before. My siblings and I visited their new place last spring, and he proposed one evening while we were all around the dinner table. I got to photograph their engagement session on their land the next day!
Every single second of this day was perfect! Especially when one of the flower girls proudly carried a bag of Cheetos down the aisle. I served as wedding planner, coordinator, photographer, bridesmaid and daughter-of-the-bride, so needless to say I was kept pretty busy! The happy couple moved to Indiana and bought a church! They live in an actual church building just outside of Muncie that they’ve converted into a house. How cool is that?? They have their own chapel and everything! My mom dreamed of having the wedding in their very own home. I’m so happy that we made that dream a reality!
The design of my mom’s wedding was simple and classic with a touch of boho. Willow and Star Flowers created the bride’s gorgeous bouquet, the adorable flower girl crowns and all of the corsages and boutonnieres. My mom tried on several gowns before she found her boho wedding dress at Modcloth. We even had that special moment when we both teared up. It was just perfect for her!
We all considered this a destination wedding because even though the bride and groom didn’t have very far to travel, all of their guests flew in from out-of-state. Loved ones from Utah, Oregon and Alaska all made the journey to support the happy couple. I loved the intimate feel of such a small group of friends and family. All of us got to spend the day celebrating, eating, laughing and just enjoying each other’s company. It was an amazing day that none of us will ever forget!
Congratulations, Mom and Wayne! The two of you are such a wonderful couple. We can’t wait to visit your church home again!
